As gyms shut and exercise classes cease, for many people it has become more challenging to maintain a physically active lifestyle. During times of COVID, its become increasingly important to maintain some sort of physical fitness and mental well being.

Something as simple as walking can have profound effects on people’s physical and mental function if performed consistently.

What are some of the health benefits of walking?

  • Maintenance of healthy blood pressure
  • Decrease in resting heart rate
  • Improvement in total cholesterol
  • Improved mental health

How often and for how long should I walk?

If you haven’t done much walking, 10 – 15 minute walks 3 – 4 times per week is an excellent starting point. Over time you’ll find it becomes easier and you can increase the amount of days/duration you walk to everyday.

If you have pain which is preventing you from performing exercise, Drs. Michael  & David Black at Manningham Road and Armadale Chiropractic Centre is available for consultation. Michael works with his patients to set goals and provide progressive care through manual therapy and rehabilitative treatment.

Private health funds cover chiropractic care and some patients qualify for a Medicare EPC referral if they have a long-standing problem.
